Lonnie Lopez
Lonnie Lopez has worked in the legal field for the past 7 years, primarily in the fields of personal injury law, workers' compensation, and medical malpractice. Working for Smith & Lowney has been an exciting and challenging endeavor. "I really cut my legal teeth working on cases against insurance companies," Lonnie recalls. "Day in and day out, I got to see how people with lots of money took advantage of people without the same resources and how they used the law to harm people, especially injured workers." Lonnie continues to be guided by sense of social justice and looks forward to helping people make things right.
He earned his BA degree in English in 1998 from California State University Bakersfield, where he earned the praise of the Graduate Studies program when his paper "Iago as Gender Trickster: The Manipulation of Gender Roles in Othello" was selected "Outstanding Graduate Paper" while Lonnie was still an undergraduate. He has published numerous articles, essays, letters, and poems in such publications as Liquid Ohio, the Blackboard, the Bakersfield Californian, Shergood Forest, Orpheus, and Socialist Worker. Lonnie is a local antiwar activist, a member of several activist organizations, and a volunteer for several programs.
